New Learning:
Students this week have been working on vocabulary to help them understand a reading about the group from Spain Sueño de Morfeo and to understand the song itself Esta soy yo. Students did various vocabulary building activities with their partner and as homework. We have also been practicing when to use the verbs ser and estar. We will continue next week with more vocabulary activities with the song, as well as working with various irregular verbs that occur in the song to write sentences.
Students have been assigned a project that is due January 13th or 14th. The have a 2 page direction sheet about it. They will need to be finding 4 Spanish-speakers (1 per group member if the group has 4 students) from 4 different countries ideally, to find out about their holiday traditions. Students have a list of questions from me that they should ask and below there is a link to a Google Presentation that they can use as a resource as well where I have typed directions and the questions they should use. They should be sending out the questions as soon as possible. They also should be working on their individual parts of the presentation which is a paragraph about their own holiday traditions and activities. They received a planning guide for that today. We will go through a drafting process with that writing like we did with the last writing project we completed.
Upcoming Assessment:
Students need to be prepared for a test on ser and estar on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
They can prepare by reviewing the acronyms we discussed in class and Quizlet:
http://quizlet.com/10652496/ser-v-estar-flash-cards/ They can also use www.zondle.com (also has a free app) to practice using the ser and estar questions. They will need the class code: 1913-5709 .
