Students this week have been working with descriptions vocabulary through class activities and independent practice with Quizlet on the iPads. Most of the week has been dedicated to learning about Día de los Muertos. Below you will see a selection of pictures from the week. On Tuesday various students got to help make Pan de Muerto with Shelley Awe from Chartwell's in the kitchen. My 7th hour class then got to shape the bread to give it patterns typical of the bread. Thanks Shelley for all of your preparation and letting us cook with you! Antonio T. organized students to create a typical altar on Tuesday as well. Thanks to his mom and Antonio for their work in bringing in traditional items and creating the altar. Wednesday and Thursday classes experienced a presentation about Día de los Muertos from Antonio T. and his mom in Spanish. After the presentation the students got to test chocolate caliente mexicano (Mexican hot chocolate) and the bread. Thanks again Shelley! On Friday the 1st and then on Monday for that class, students will be doing a web quest to deepen their understanding of Dia de Muertos. Expect to see a homework assignment where they need to share about the Day with you as part of that web quest. Please sign off on the sheet after they share.
